RF Miles Update - Final Part of funding secured!

19 Nov 2018 by Dale O'Neil

More exciting news at Tigerland with a further funding announcement for the RF Miles ground up-grade and new pavilion.

Over the last 24 hours Federal Member for Dunkley, Chris Crewther, announced an immediate funding release of $2.6M towards the RF Miles up-grade. This matches the $2.6M election funding pledge by the State Labor and Liberal candidates for Carrum, sitting member Sonya Kilkenny (Labour) and Donna Bauer (Liberal), adding to the Frankston Council’s $3.3M commitment to the project. Labor Federal candidate for Dunkley, Peta Murphy, also announced the Labour Party’s Federal election commitment to provide the required $2.6M funding.

We are extremely fortunate that Frankston Council and both major parties at a State and Federal level have seen fit to support this important community project which will deliver us first class playing and social facilities for our footballers, netballers and supporters. The Seaford community clubs at RF Miles are the big winners.

Chris Crewther’s funding announcement is for the current financial year and is not dependent on waiting for the next Federal election. It will allow the work to begin in early 2019, rather than wait for 2019/20 budget funding and a post 1 July start to the works. New appointed Frankston Mayor, Michael O’Rielly and Fston council officers are fully aware of our desire to get back to RF Miles for the 2020 season and will now get on with the work to get this exciting project started so we aren’t without a home for a third season.
